Darkstalkers supposedly had a game in development before it got canned and it resources got disrupted through out the Capcom. One of these assets or concepts seemed to have gone to Street Fighter 5. This is again going off the statement from Nakayama who directed season 3-5 of SF5. He talked about the Darkstalkers game getting canceled or hinted at it and now seems to mention the idea of a character might have gone into SF5. This is what Nakama said.

“Master F.A.N.G’s concept was actually a dropped design from a new ◯a◯◯◯◯ game as a character called ◯su◯◯, but this is a secret of secrets.”

This may seem odd but when looking at Fang early designs things make sense. Before he became a odd character with poison moves Fang was short with a tiger like fighting style. His size matter as he would roll around in some moves as well as us a ball chain. They way he fights sounds like a darkstalker character in a way.

[From the SF5 concept art for F.A.N.G we have seen, there was a time when Capcom thought to make him more beastly with a tiger fighting style as well as a short and round design where he could roll himself up in a ball.

On top of that, some attack concepts also appear very much like Hsien-Ko by having a chain he could throw from under his sleeve attached to a claw or other weapons.]

Hearing this showed in some ways Darkstalker even with it canceled revival was being remembered with SF5 characters. It should be noted that similar to this year we saw some customs in SF5 season pass that would also invoke the spirit of Capcom monster brawler. That being the case we can hope some day as with Nakamya story that a new Darkstatlkers sees the light of day. Or at the very least its fighters find a good home.
