Some news on Sag-Aftra actors. The videogames actors are still negotiating to protect there jobs. Many in the acting community have fought to have some line of protection against AI thus why the strikes. Videogames actors were the last with them still working the details.
At this moment this has them bargaining with Activision Productions Inc.; Blindlight LLC; Disney Character Voices Inc.; Electronic Arts Productions Inc.; Epic Games, Inc.; Formosa Interactive LLC; Insomniac Games Inc.; Take 2 Productions Inc.; Voice Works Productions Inc.; and WB
Games Inc. Talks that have been going on since October 2022 for anyone who want to keep track.
The talks include the following demands. ” informed consent for the use of AI to create digital voice replicas (recreations of the voice of a real performer, living or dead). They also include requirements for the safe storage of digital assets. The union said that the deal will enable Replica Studios “to engage SAG-AFTRA members under a fair, ethical agreement to safely create and license a digital replica of their voice. Licensed voices can be used in video game development and other interactive media projects from pre-production to final release,” but the agreement also requires that voiceover performers “have the opportunity to opt out of its continued use in new works.”
While talks are still on going some headway has been made as more than 120 games from 49 companies have signed the agreements. What that means we will see as the talks keep going.
